Lost - The Complete Second Season

Well, the big 3-0 has arrived.  I'm not really sure how to feel.  I don't think anyone is ever excited to say that they're thirty.  Anyways, goodbye twenties, it's like I hardly knew yah.  Actually I take that back, my twenties were pretty frickin' awesome.

Life for the past month has been REALLY chill.  As some of you know, I was laid off at the end of January, so I've been taking a bit of a break.  Tell you what, it's actually been nice to sit around and do absolutely nothing.  I've been catching up on the Xbox games that I haven't been able to play over the past year (Gears 2 and Rock Band).  In fact, check me out on the RB1 vocals leaderboards for the Killers song Spaceman (you'll have to pick the song from the list and look for my screenname LunarFoil)...  right now I'm 14th, which is pretty damn good if you ask me.

Other than that, probably the only thing that gets me out of my pajamas during the week is Muay Thai.  I've been going to Fairtex Mountain View and it's AWESOME... authentic Thai trainers, good instruction, cool peeps.  It feels pretty badass going in there and beating up on some pads and/or each other.

I forgot how therapeutic it was to write blog entries.  Let's see if I can keep it up...

Throwin a bone

Well now... what's this thing here?  A blog of some sort.  It amazes me that I still get a trickle of traffic on my Xanga, even though I haven't posted for 11 months.  Don't you people have anything better to do?  Like check your Facebook?  I know I've been facebook'n a lot more because people actually update their status on there.

Some news about me the past 11 months:

  1. Got an apartment by myself (3 miles from work)
  2. Moved to a window office at work
  3. Still doing the same work (I sense a theme)
  4. Had a birthday

So there you have it, an update.  Let's see if they notice.

SF Film Fest

I went to the SF Film Fest a few weeks ago to watch the Hong Kong flick, The Heavenly Kings.  It's about a bunch of actors who decide to make a fake boy band to challenge the fickle HK pop music scene.  The movie was made by some local folks (now Hong Kong stars), and this was the US premier so the four actors and the producer were there to do a Q&A after the movie.

By some strange chance, I see my old friend Derek at the afterparty and we talk a bit to catch up...  He tells me he knows the producer and that afterwards they were all headed to a smaller, more exclusive afterparty and that I could come along.

Hang out with some Hong Kong stars?  Sure!  Why the hell not?

There are three Hong Kong stars in this pic.  That night I got to talk to all four of them about the film, life in Hong Kong, how they got into the biz, and shizz like that.  Awesome.

March Birthdays and a Drive-By

March is a time for birthdays.  Mine included.  I'd like to say thank you to all of those that came to D&Bs this month to remind me that I am approaching adulthood.  Your well-wishes are appreciated.  Although my bday was cool and all...

... you can't beat Dynah's bday this year for sheer EXCITEMENT.  She celebrated on the 17th, which happened to be St. Patty's day, so all the drunken hooligans were out as well.  We went to downtown San Jose and got smashed in the usual way at SJ Bar and Grill.

Afterwards, at about 2:30 in the morning we decided to go to Jack in the Box on 4th and San Carlos.

The place was packed, and it all seemed pretty standard until there were some loud cracks outside.  Everyone starting running to the back and ducking.  Yeah, there was a SHOOTING outside.

The cops arrived pretty quickly to close the place up.  Paul had talk the cop into letting him get his food since he already paid for it.

They herded us all outside to question us, and took some of our info down.  We all thought that was a good end to the night so we went home.

It turns out two people were shot... see the story here: http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_5469907

COOL.  A shooting.  That's one to check off on my "life experiences" list.

P.S.  Props to Anthony for having the balls to snap that pic of everyone ducking... in the midst of a crisis... your presence of mind is amazing.

Trampolines!

My friend Cindy's birthday was a couple of weeks ago, and instead of the normal dinner and bar thing she decided to have her bday celebration at this trampoline place in Santa Clara.

I had no idea this place existed, but it's an auditorium filled with trampolines.

They also have a foam pit and dodgeball court.  Tip: Watch where you land in the foam pit.  It can be pretty sweaty/nasty/smelly in that thing.  And it's hard to get out... if you land in a bad spot, you're gonna be rollin around in other people's sweat.

Afterwards we went to downtown SJ and had some strong mojitos.  That mojito bar on San Fernando is pretty good.  Have a couple of the Carnivale drinks and you're set for a while.

Happy Bday Cindy.
